Note: Starting with SkyShepherd mobile app version 2.2.0, you, the customer, have the ability to add and remove collars from your account. If you don't have this version of the app, yet, you can look in the App Store and Google Play store to get the latest published version of the app. Until you get this version of the app, or later, you won't be able to implement the steps in this article.
After you create your SkyShepherd account and log into the SkyShepherd app for the first time, the app brings you through an onboarding flow that includes adding a collar to your account. If you already have your collar when you start creating your account, then, this flow will be very smooth and intuitive. If you don't have your collar, you can skip the onboarding flow and start making a boundary. You will be presented the onboarding flow about once each day until you add your first collar. You can also sign out and sign in if you want to see the flow again, until you add your first collar. After you add your first collar, you can add more collars from the Pet Panel. It will be the last option on the right as you swipe through the Pet Panel. You can watch the video below to see how the initial onboarding add-collar flow works, but here are the steps written out:
- Log into the SkyShepherd app for the first time
- You see a screen that asks if you want to set up your collar - tap "Setup"
- Make sure your collar is charged/charging
- Bring your phone very close to your collar (touching is great, but at least within 6 inches to 1 foot)
- Tap "Find" in the app
- The app will then search for the collar you want to add. It has to check to make sure the collar is not assigned to anyone else, so make sure your phone has access to the internet (Wi-Fi, Cellular)
- After a short process, the app should find the collar your phone is next to and list in for you in the app
- You can look at the serial number and check it against the one printed on the collar, and and add it to your account
- Note: You can only add one collar at a time, and your phone needs to be very close to the one you want to add to find it. If your phone isn't close enough to the device, it may tell you it can't find any collars. Move the phone closer to the collar and try again.
- Note: On the flip side, if you have two or more collars right next to each other, the app may see more than one collar, and that will foul the process. Separate the collars by a couple of feet, choose one to move your phone next to, and then tap the "Retry" button to try finding that collar again.
- You can immediately customize the collar with a pet profile. Specifically, you can name that collar according to the name of the pet you intend to use it with
- After you customize the collar with a name, the onboarding flow continues, but you have successfully added the collar to your account, and you can find it in the Pet Panel portion of the app
