Can I begin training with my dog right away? When can I start training my dog with SkyShepherd?
Dogs younger than six months of age are probably not ready yet for SkyShepherd training. Additionally, we highly recommend basic obedience training, that includes sit, stay, here/come, and that your dog walks nicely on leash before training with SkyShepherd. You'll be doing a lot of training on both a normal and a long leash, and you'll use your voice to draw your dog back toward the Safe Zone of your boundary. So if your dog doesn't walk on leash well, and if they don't listen to you when you call them back (especially on long leash, and then later during off-leash training), you're going to run into problems.
Aside from your dog being ready, make sure you're ready as well. You should read and understand the Operating Manual and Training Guide as a first step before doing any training with your dog. You should complete all training phases and stages, in order, and in accordance with both the Operating Manual and the Training guide. The Quick-Start Guide has a nice summary of the training methodology from the Training Guide. You can use that while training your dog as a handy guide/reference.
